Telegram Update Brings Auto-Delete Feature, Home Screen Widgets, Expiring Invite Links, and More

Telegram has a new auto-delete feature for messages, home screen widgets, expiring invite links, and more with the latest update. The auto-delete feature will allow users to set an auto-delete timer for messages they send in any chat (presently this feature is available on Telegram for its secret messages option). The home screen widget allows you to access your chats faster and the expiring invite links system lets you make a created link inactive after a certain time. The features have been rolled out to Android and iOS versions of the Telegram app.
Telegram was the most downloaded app globally in January, according to a recent report. The latest update for the Android and iOS versions of the app brings features like auto-delete messages, home screen widgets, expiring invite links, and unlimited members. The update also improves the chat importing experience and reporting system, as well as adds more animated emojis.
As per its official blog post, the auto-delete messages feature in Telegram can automatically delete messages either after 24 hours or seven days after they have been sent. Once a user selects the auto-delete feature, messages from there on will be automatically deleted after the time period chosen by the user. In case of a group chat, only admins can enable or modify the timer and messages from everyone in the group will be deleted after the set time. To do this on Android, tap on the menu icon on the top right in a chat, select Clear History and then choose the time frame. On iOS, tap and hold a message, tap on Select, then tap on Clear Chat in the top left of the chat and select Enable Auto-Delete and select the time frame.

Move WhatsApp Chats to Telegram With These Simple Steps
Home screen widgets will allow users to see a preview of recent messages or only the names and profile pictures of contacts. On Android, the widgets can be expanded to take up more of your screen and will always be up to date. The home screen widgets for iOS will only get fresh data “occasionally”, which the company says is due to system limitations.
The Telegram update also brings expiring group invite link that can be made inactive after a certain time. Additionally, groups that are close to the 200,000 members limit can now convert into Broadcast Groups that do not have any members limit. However, only group admins can send messages in these groups.

Talking about other improvements in the latest Telegram update, the chat import feature that was added last month has been updated to show imported messages sorted by their original date. This is only valid for Telegram chats that are new or have fewer than 1,000 messages. Also, specific messages can now be reported and users can add comments when reporting. Lastly, the update brings new animated emojis to Telegram.

LG W41, W41+, W41 Pro budget smartphones launched in India, prices start at Rs 13,490

G W41 series will be available to buy from all leading stores.
LG has launched three new smartphones in India, the W41, W41+, and the W41 Pro. All these phones come under the W41 series. But they are not exactly different phones. The only thing that sets them apart from each other is the RAM and storage configurations while the rest of the specifications are all the same. The LG W41 series brings some notable improvements over the W31 series smartphones that were launched last year in India. These include a bigger battery and a new processor. The new W41 smartphones are meant for budget-end customers where the maximum smartphones from a number of brands are aimed at.

According to LG, the three new W41 series phones have been made in India, and come with “LG’s commitment towards meaningful innovation to provide consumers with a stylish and powerful smartphone.” LG is throwing in a lot of weight behind the design of the W41 series phones, which looks pleasing to me. The smartphones in the series are made of polycarbonate material but the design makes these phones look premium. Over and above, LG phones come with the Google Assistant button, much like Nokia phones, that allow you to summon the digital voice assistant whenever you want.

LG W41, W41+, and W41 Pro price in India
The LG W41 series starts at Rs 13,490 in India and will be available across all leading stores. LG has not said when the sale will start yet. All three phones in Magic Blue and Laser Blue colours.

LG W41, W41+, and W41 Pro specifications
To remind you, these three phones are the same differentiated by only the RAM and storage space. The W41 comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, the W41+ has 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage, and finally, the W41 Pro carries 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage inside. All three phones support a microSD card of up to 512GB via a slot. Now, let us talk about the rest of the specifications that are common in all three W41 series phones.

The LG W41 series comes with a 6.55-inch Full Vision display with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The screen supports brightness of up to 400 nits, which seems impressive for the phone, at least on paper. There is a punch-hole for the selfie camera on the display. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 processor with a 2.3GHz clock speed. The phone runs on Android 10-based software, which is a bit disappointing because Android 11 began rolling out to phones last year.

For photography, the LG W41 series has a 48M AI-enabled quad-camera setup with a supporting a 5MP macro camera, a 2MP depth camera, and an 8MP wide-angle camera. The selfie camera is an 8MP shooter. LG claims the W41 offers slow-motion and time-lapse video, hardware Bokeh, High Dynamic Range (HDR), and a range of twenty-live filters to choose from. There is face unlock and fingerprint sensors available on the phone for biometric security. Backing the LG W41 series is a 5000mAh battery with fast charging, although the company has not said how fast it is. The phone is 9.3mm thick and weighs 201g.Live TV

Realme GT 5G Confirmed to Feature 64-Megapixel Triple Rear Camera Setup, Snapdragon 888 SoC

Realme GT 5G posters reveal that the phone will sport a triple rear camera setup and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The company has been teasing features of Realme GT on Weibo ahead of its March 4 launch. One of the posters also confirmed the presence of a 64-megapixel primary sensor on the phone. Realme GT is the company’s upcoming flagship and its first phone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Some other specifications for the phone have also been shared by the company.

Realme’s official account and Vice President of the company Xu Qi Chase shared on Weibo a couple of posters that reveal some information about Realme GT, along with its design. The phone will come with a triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 64-megapixel primary sensor. The rectangular camera module houses the three sensors aligned vertically, along with the flash. The blue gradient back panel has a pattern on it, with the Realme branding towards the bottom.

Asus ROG Phone 5 Global Launch to Take Place on March 10, Company Confirms

Asus ROG Phone 5 will be unveiled on March 10, the company has announced through a dedicated landing page on its website. The ROG Phone 5 is a successor to the Asus ROG Phone 3 that was launched in July 2020. Asus is skipping the ‘4′ moniker seemingly because its pronunciation in Chinese is similar to the word “death,” which isn’t uncommon. Asus has not shared any information on the specifications but the phone, being a flagship, will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.
Asus ROG Phone 5 launch
Asus has a timer going on a dedicated landing page for the launch of the ROG Phone 5 and it will take place on March 10 at 7pm (local time) in Taipei (4:30pm IST). The landing page does not share any information on the phone but features an RGB ROG logo that may indicate the presence of one on the phone itself.
Recently, a known tipster shared that Asus ROG Phone 5 will launch in India sometime in March, that falls in line with the official launch date.

Notebooks Lead Total PC Shipment in India in Q4 2020: IDC
Asus ROG Phone 5 specifications (expected)
As mentioned earlier, Asus has not shared any information on the ROG Phone 5, but it has reportedly popped up on multiple certification websites. The phone is expected to feature a 6.78-inch display and a 6,000mAh battery which supports 65W fast charging. It may run Android 11 out-of-the-box and be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It could come with up to 16GB RAM, as a recent Geekbench listing suggested.
Talking about the design, a few images leaked via an alleged TENAA listing hinting at a triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 64-megapixel primary sensor. There is also what seems to be a dot matrix panel on the back with the ROG logo lit up. The phone is expected to measure 172.834×77.252×10.29mm, making it quite thick by modern standards of slim and light phones, but ROG Phones have never really emphasised on being the most sleek and ergonomic, as the emphasis is on delivering maximum performance.

Android 12 Developer Preview 1 Released: Check Out Compatibility and New Features

Google has released the first developer preview of Android 12 — the next version of Android that will debut later this year as a successor to Android 11. The new release comes over five months after the arrival of the public release of Android 11 that took place in September. Just like with previous developer previews, the Android 12 Developer Preview 1 release is aimed at developers making their apps ready for the next big Android update. It is initially available for download on Google Pixel phones. However, developers can also look at its new features and changes over Android 11 through the Android Emulator available in Android Studio.
Android 12 Developer Preview compatibility
Google announced through a blog post that the Android 12 Developer Preview 1 can be installed on Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5. System images for all these models have been provided for download. Alternatively, the first developer preview of Android 12 can be installed on a system through the Android Emulator in Android Studio. Developers working on Android TV apps can also get the first Android 12 developer preview via the ADT-3 device.
Before proceeding to manually download any of the system images, it is important to note that the Android 12 Developer Preview 1 is meant specifically for developers and not intended for end consumers. You may, thus, encounter some bugs or issues after installing the developer preview.

Android 12 new features
The first developer preview of Android 12 brings interface-level changes to notifications. Google has also mentioned in its blog post that it was also working on optimising transitions and animations across the system to make them smoother. Apps targeting Android 12 will also be able to include notifications with custom content views that will be based on a standard template.

Motorola Edge+ Will Now Get 2 Years of Android Version Updates
“This template ensures that custom notifications have the same decoration as other notifications in all states, such as the notification’s icon and expansion affordances (in the collapsed state) and the notification’s icon, app name, and collapse affordance (in the expansion state),” Google detailed.
In addition to custom notifications-focussed updates, Android 12 is in development to bring more responsive notifications. You’ll notice the changes in the first developer preview that are likely to be further polished in later updates.

Android 12 Developer Preview 1 also brings compatible media transcoding to support HEVC format for video capture. Google has also provided platform support for AV1 Image File Format (AVIF) using AV1. This is claimed to dramatically improve image for the same file size when compared to older image formats, such as JPEG.The first developer preview of Android 11 also includes foreground service optimisations through an expedited job in JobScheduler and a new release of Jetpack WorkManager library. There is also a new unified API to enable rich content insertion and accept rich content from sources including clipboard, keyboard, and even drag-and-drop gestures.
Apps designed for Android 12 will also be able to offer audio-coupled haptic feedback through the phone’s vibrator. This means that you’ll get more immersive audio experiences on the next-gen Android update.

Further, Google has simplified immersive mode to smoothen gesture navigation and make it more consistent. Android 12 also comes with an Android Runtime (ART) module to let Google push new software updates to the core runtime and libraries available on devices. This will enable a more consistent experience for installed apps.
Android 12 will also be about optimisations for tablets, foldables, and TVs. Some of those optimisations can be noticed from the first preview.
The first developer preview of Android 12 also includes modern SameSite cookie behaviours in WebView, Restricted Netlink MC, and safer exporting of components to prevent apps from inadvertently exporting activities, services, and receivers. There will also be other under-the-hood privacy and security changes that Google has detailed on a dedicated webpage.
Apart from the changes mentioned by Google, Android Police reported a list of new features that includes a one-handed mode, emergency SOS button, scrolling screenshots, and better notification snoozing. The first Android 12 preview also includes an improved screenshot editor and an updated Nearby Share feature with the ability to share Wi-Fi passwords.
Google has mainly provided the features that are essential for development purposes. But nonetheless, we can expect some interface-level changes and improvements in the future Android 12 developer preview and beta releases.
