Google Lens will now allow users to copy and paste handwritten notes to computer

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Google Lens has introduced a new feature that would allow users to copy handwritten texts from phone to computer.
  • Google is rolling out the new feature today for its Android and iOS users.
  • To avail the feature, you should have the updated Google Lens app or the Google App on iOS

Google Lens has introduced a new feature that would allow users to copy handwritten texts from phone to computer. Google is rolling out the new feature today for its Android and iOS users. But there is a catch if you have bad writing you might never get to use the feature as it only works if the handwriting is neat and readable.

To avail the feature, you should have the updated Google Lens app or the Google App on iOS, where the Google Lens is available on the search bar. Android users can also use Google Chrome to access Lens. You should be logged to your Google accounts on all the devices. For instance, if you are connecting your phone to the computer, to transfer the handwritten notes, both your phone and computer should have you logged in.

Here is how you can copy handwritten texts to computer

— For instance, if you have a few notes written on a piece of paper, just open Google Lens and point the camera at your handwritten text.

—When the camera detects the text, highlight in on your phone screen and select the option “copy to computer” to paste it on another signed-in device with Chrome.

—This is the easiest way to copy something from your phone to a laptop without having to type the entire thing.

This could be a really useful tool for college students as it is the easiest way for them to convert their handwritten notes into well-informed pieces using the Google Lens. For working professionals, who take notes during meetings can also use this tool to send the minutes of the meetings without having to type the entire thing again. However, having neat and readable handwriting is very important for people who want to use this tool. If your handwriting is bad, even Google will not be able to copy your stuff without typos.

Apart from the text to computer feature, Google Lens got another feature that would allow users to learn new words and how to pronounce them. You can highlight the words that are difficult to pronounce using the Lens and tap the Listen button to hear the pronunciation. Google Lens has Spanish, Chinese, and more than 100 other languages in store.

Another important feature that Google rolled out will allow users to learn new phases. If you come across a word that you don’t understand, Google Lens can help you understand it. With in-line Google Search results, you can also select phrases that you understand to learn more. Google Lens is available in the Google app for iPhone users and the Google Lens app for Android users.

Samsung Galaxy S21 camera specs leak, tipped to feature a 150MP penta camera set-up

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 could come with a 150-megapixel primary lens
  • The phone is tipped to feature a penta camera set-up
  • There could also be an in-display camera on the front

Despite having launched the Galaxy S20 only a few months back, and not even being close to getting the Galaxy Note 20 out of the way, South Korean tech major Samsung has already started making grand plans for its next year’s flagship series, the Galaxy S21.

As per a report by SamMobile, Samsung is planning major upgrades for the Galaxy S21 phones, with the biggest upgrades being reserved for the camera setup of the next-generation flagship. The upgrades are reported to be for fixing issues faced by the Galaxy S20 Ultra devices. The company is reportedly planning to do away with the laser autofocus, and instead go all in for Optical Image Stabilisation.

Currently, Samsung is still in the process of deciding on how to go about this, and as such is testing two models, of which one has OIS for the main, telephoto and selfie cameras, while other has OIS for main, telephotos and wide-angle cameras.

The report also talks about the specifications of the camera set-up, with the phone expected to get a 150-megapixel main sensor, a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor, a 16-megapixel wide-angle sensor sat next to a 12-megapixel macro sensor.

Upgrades will also be seen on the front camera of the device, with the company reportedly planning to introduce an in-display selfie camera in the Galaxy S21. Interestingly, for the front also Samsung is two configurations, with one of them being a 48-megapixel sensor while the other a more modest 12-megapixel sensor, but with OIS.

But a word of caution before we get too excited. The contents of the new report still fall firmly under the realm of speculation, rather than being actual leaks. And it may remain so until the company has finally launched the Galaxy Note 20 in a few month’s time. It is only after that we can expect some concrete information about the Galaxy S21 to start emerging on the web. So till then, it’ll be prudent to take information such as the one shared in this report with a pinch of salt.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Apple TV 4K upgrade has been in the rumours for some time
  • New model would come in 64GB and 128GB storage options
  • Apple TV 4K (2020) may offer performance improvements over existing model
Apple TV 4K upgrade has been in the rumour mill for some time. But while the Cupertino giant has maintained silence so far, a tipster has now claimed that the new Apple TV 4K (2020) model is ready to ship and can go live soon. The new Apple TV offering is speculated to come in 64GB and 128GB of onboard storage options. It is also likely to have a new processor. Additionally, Apple is expected to unveil its new tvOS variant at WWDC 2020 next month that would even enhance the experience on the new Apple TV 4K model.

The new Apple TV 4K with the A12X Bionic chip has been under development with a codename Neptune T1125 and is set to debut soon, tweets Jon Prosser. The A12X chip debuted on the first-generation 11-inch iPad Pro back in October 2018. However, the existing Apple TV 4K model has the A10X chip.

iPhone 12 Tipped to Come With Sub-6GHz 5G, iPhone 12 Pro and Max With mmWave 5G Technology: Report

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • iPhone 12 phones are rumoured to come with sub-6GHz 5G technology
  • iPhone 12 Pro is tipped to come with mmWave 5G technology
  • Apple has not confirmed these developments

iPhone 12 series has been in the news for quite some time and it is speculated that Apple will launch the phones later this year. But as we are still awaiting the confirmation about the phones from the Cupertino-based company, several reports have indicated that the new iPhone series will pack A14 Bionic SoC along with 5G connectivity. Now, a notable tipster has claimed that the rumoured 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch variants of iPhone 12 will likely only support sub-6GHz 5G connectivity. It was also added that the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone Pro Max will support both sub-6GHz 5G and mmWave 5G technology.

The latest leaks were highlighted by the notable tipster and tech analyst Jon Prosser who last week had also tipped the alleged prices of the four rumoured iPhone 12 variants. Prosser indicated since the 6.1-inch variant of iPhone 12 is not using the high-end mmWave 5G technology, therefore, making the phone cost only $50 (Rs. 3,790) more than the iPhone 11 with the same screen size.

To put this in perspective, there are mainly two types of 5G technology that are widely adopted. These are the mmWave 5G technology that offers higher speeds while its rival sub-6GHz technology is more commonly used. Since 5G technology has not come to India yet, customers here planning to buy the new iPhone 12 will not be affected.

However, as noted by Techradar, popular network carrier Verizon in the US uses mmWave 5G technology, therefore, the vanilla iPhone 12 will not work with this 5G connectivity on that network. The report also states in the UK for instance, no network carrier uses mmWave 5G technology, hence, it won’t affect customers planning to buy the vanilla iPhone 12.

But since the rumoured 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max, support both sub-6GHz 5G and mmWave 5G technology, customer planning to buy the Pro variants won’t face any problems in terms of 5G connectivity.
